Light Brahma

Light Brahma hatching eggs and chicks not available for 2022.

Brahma are on the Livestock Conservancy’s Priority List.

My family fell in love with these big fluffy friendly hens in 2013. They are inquisitive and not afraid to come over for a pat or treat. We have been slowly combining two unrelated lines from BC and QC. We continue to strive towards the APA standards of size, proper colouring, good pea combs and feathered legs.

Brahmas were developed in America from very large fowls imported from China via the port of Shanghai. They are extremely hardy chickens and appreciated for their size, strength, and vigor. Their small pea comb, great size, and heavy plumage make them almost immune to cold weather. They are considered a superior winter-layer of medium to large brown eggs. The Brahma was generally considered the leading meat breed for the period from the mid-1850’s through about 1930. They stand confinement extremely well due to their very calm and docile personalities. They are excellent brood mothers and make fantastic child friendly pets. They lay approximately 150 eggs per year.
